What to Expect on your Visit
Joseph will talk with you about your situation, previous treatments and what you would like to see happen. In a typical session, the patient remains clothed but wears loose clothing and sits in a chair or lies down on a massage table. An assessment is made after a series of questions and treatment is based on the answers. Inspection of the tongue in Chinese medicine reflects the state of the body’s internal organs, and palpation of the pulse are two important methods in this process. Palpating the pulse is not the same as checking your heart rate but a way for Joseph to feel the strength and flow of the energy in your channels.

Joseph optimizes the best of both Chinese and western medical methods. Western sciences such as anatomy and physiology, pathology and associated technologies such as cytology (cell study), radiology, and computers support the treatments of traditional Chinese traumatology and orthopedics. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you bring with you on your first visit, any previous tests such as x-rays/MRIs, blood tests.

Unlike a relaxation massage, this therapeutic method goes directly after the problem, sometimes requiring significant pressure. Treatment time usually lasts from thirty to forty minutes and frequency depends on the condition. Sometimes herbal compresses, liniments, ointments and heat are used as an adjunctive part of the therapy.
